About LoveBug Farm:
LoveBug Farm is located on 1 grassy acre on the east side of the Big Island. We have a large shade house that produces food for the community. LoveBug started in Oregon and operated there for 3+ years before receiving funding through the Farm Services Agency in Hilo to produce food for the Big Island. The Farm Services Agency is a department under the USDA whose mission is to stabilize farm income, promote sustainable agricultural practices, and ensure that farmers have access to necessary financial resources.
LoveBug Farm provides food for the community and a boarding and daycare space for dogs. On the Big Island, the places where your dog can play off leash or stay overnight at a place that doesn't have kennels is very limited. LoveBug provides a safe place where positive reinforcement training is implemented to keep dogs safe, happy, and always welcome.
The farm/house space is fully fenced and the yard is grass (not lava). We have 2 resident dogs pictured below. Barli the Bernadoodle, Ehu/Eggroll the American Bully and a cat who secretly runs everything. Everyone loves having friends over.
Rachel: I am the owner and operator of LoveBug Farm. I am passionate about dogs, animal communication, organic food and happy, healthy bodies! I enjoy sunshine, being around happy people, and creating a life that is worth living.
My mission is to lead with love and to be in alignment with all beings and the land.
I grew up in Boulder, Colorado and moved to the Big Island when I was 17 to attend college at the University of Hawai'i at Hilo. After getting my Bachelor's degree I moved to Portland, Oregon to attend graduate school. I have a MA in Communication with a focus in health and patient centered healthcare.
I am here to feed my community and make the dogs that live here be as happy as possible!
HAPPY ANIMALS = HAPPY PEOPLE = HAPPY PLANET
